Persona: Louhi is by nature a deviant and a bully, with an overactive imagination and not enough common sense. She's a capricious trickster who enjoys getting a reaction from others, mostly negative. All of this outward ferocity is a defense which she enforces relentlessly to shield her insecurity and fragile ego, and she does so in such excess that most are lead to believe she's nothing but an incorrigible brat or even a sociopath.
Though she's not lacking in intelligence, occasionaly Louhi's perceptions of the world around her utterly fail to match up to reality. This in turn might be part of her defensiveness, although she's not so self-aware as to realize it.
In fights Louhi is reckless and highly aggressive, taking advantage of any opportunity she sees, capable of acts of extreme cruelty. She typically disregards her own safety in exchange for delivering a blow, and it's rare for her to leave a fight without some kind of injury, often serious ones.
When it comes to looking after herself in most ways she's completely hopeless, but will always refuse to ask for help. Those who offer her gifts will find them ill-received, and overtures of friendship met with suspicion and sarcasm or lies and false acting.
Appearance:
•Height: 5'6"
•Weight: 114 lbs
•Hair: blue-black
•Eyes: pale blue
Louhi's scrawny frame belies the huge and fearsome power of a captain contained within it. The most immediately distinguishable feature she displays is a pale blue band tattooed across her eyes from one temple to the other, a marking of unknown origin or meaning which frames eyes of an equally frigid shade. Her black hair, usually worn in pigtails, is often in a state of disarray and sticking out in spikes, contrasting against the unhealthy pale tone of her skin.
On the occasion where she offers a smile, the impression is ruined by a missing upper left bicuspid, knocked out in a fight with Atsuma Sanada. While some contest that she's interesting in her looks or perhaps even uniquely beautiful, most find her to be distinctly unappealing.
Her Haori is loose fitting with long sleeves that brush past the tips of her fingers, lined with a vibrantly dark material which subtly shifts between hues and accented with a scattering of silvery light pinpricks, giving the appearance of a starry night sky. Beneath it she normally wears some variety of kimono in a dark shade rather than the traditional shihakushou, most often a short one paired with a pleated skirt cut just below her bandaged and scabby knees. Long stockings cover the remainder of her legs, while a pair of boots or occasionally platformed geta adorn her feet.
Additionally, due to the poisonous nature of her skin, her hands and throat are covered by gloves and a high collar made out of a heavy black material.
* Louhi, pre-Mask War
Biography:
For the past 500 years, the name of Louhi had been reduced to the memories of just a few individuals who had known her, or cared to remember. Louhi Ilpotar - once the Vice Captain of the 12th Division - lived and died in that distant time, her seemingly meaningless end coming at the hands of a Vizard moments before the conclusion of Seireitei's civil war.
Now, a girl who seems much the same but washed of her memories and calling herself Louhi Kaiho appeared in Rukongai. Scruffy, unkempt, barely able to speak japanese, the girl seemed purely like Louhi Ilpotar had once been - as if her existence were rewound and started over again. Word of this mysterious apparition from the past reached the ears of the Soutaichou, the man who had once been Louhi's captain. With breakneck swiftness he pulled her from Rukongai and pushed her through the Academy, giving her a rank in the first division.
Reunited with her zanpakutou, fragment's of Louhi's past threaten to break the surface, but she is afraid and resisting against it at the same time. The Soutaichou seems determined to make her into the captain she should have been 500 years ago, despite Louhi's immaturity and lack of experiences, he announced her appointment to lead the 12th Division in the midst of a meeting while the Senzaikyuu was breached.
Note - if you are making references to my character in your writing, the fact that she was vice captain of the 12th 500 years ago is not common knowledge and unless you are one of those who knew her personally, or have been told about it specifically, your character won't be aware of this.
Residence:
A small estate called Ukishima, given to Louhi by Commander Faust. Located in the noble quarter in the North-East part of Seireitei. This is where Louhi usually can be found when she isn't at the First or Twelfth Division's headquarters, or out on a mission. The buildings are a strange mixture of eastern and western architecture, although quintessentially Japanese in appearance when viewed from the front gardens.
Kirjokansi
A brightly worked cover; The night sky filled with stars
The Kirjokansi flashed and went into pieces upon the clear stretch of sea on the open water.
The wind lulled the pieces, and the soft breeze shifted them about the blue sea, while other pieces were washed up on the seashore. And the gap-toothed crone of Pohjo could only carry the handle back home to her cold village.
-The scariest Zanpakutou in Soul Society-
Worn on Louhi's back, Kirjokansi's main distinction while in the sealed state is that the blade - gently curved and 34" in length - seems to spontaneously generate maggots. The sheath is rough and inelegant, made from blackened wood with six bands of hammered iron holding it together. The hilt is plain black as well and lacks a guard separating it from the blade.
Manifestation:
Kirjokansi takes the form of a gigantic, skeletal man. His face is covered by a rounded white mask the only detail of which is two circular eye holes. Behind the holes no eyes can be seen, only gory holes bored into Kirjokansi's decayed head. Reddish matter dripping down from the openings has stained tear-like streaks down the front of the mask. What remains of the face underneath is unknown. Unkempt, straw like hair juts out at angles from underneath bandages encircling his head.
His body is no better off, resembling a corpse in an advanced state of decay. His limbs and torso are wound around with bandages, attempting to hold his remaining flesh in place while it is ravaged by a horde of maggots and beetles. Bits and pieces drop off of him in a constant shower. One of his legs has been replaced by a prosthetic made of wood and iron, which bears a resemblance to the sword's sheath. A pair of ragged, bony structures protrude from his back, resembling something which could have been wings at some point.
Sometimes referred to as Sampo by Louhi, he has overall a foul personality although he seems to be deeply protective of his owner. His attempts to shelter her are often extreme, to the extent that he will say anything to keep her from putting her trust in anyone but himself.
Shi-Kai kiiltää, Kirjokansi
[Shine, Kirjokansi]
Form: When released, Kirjokansi lights up with bright blue electromagnetic energy which fades away again in the shape of birds as the sword changes itself into a naginata type weapon, with a 34" blade on one end of the pole and a sharp gaff-like hook on the other. Four spikes protrude outward around the hook, and a fifth extends past the curved upper surface, like a fireplace poker.
First Ability: The pole can rapidly retract and extend at Louhi's will from one foot to a base maximum of twelve feet. For every 500 points of reiatsu, the maximum length increases by one foot, with a maximum range of 50 feet.
The speed at which the pole extends and retracts is equivalent to an attack based on Louhi's zanjutsu stat so in order to outrun it directly (not dodging to the side) an opponent would need houhou greater than that number.
Second Ability: Kirjokansi continues to shed maggots from the blade, like it does when in its sealed state. The quantity which emerge relates to both Louhi's connection and Kirjokansi's state of agitation - while she has no control over the larvae herself, Kirjokansi seems to be able to force them out on his whims and even direct them. If the maggots come into contact with an open wound (or eyes, mouth, nose, etc) they will attempt to burrow in, causing pain and itching, and slowing down any kind of healing or regeneration process on the affected wound by 20%.
Third Ability: Revontulien Kenttä (Aurora Field)
Charged with a powerful electricity, an eliptical magnetic field forms around Kirjokansi, radiating from either end. Louhi's reiatsu and any other spiritual pressure present clash against the field creating a brilliant display of swirling colour like the Aurora Borealis. The swirling and flashing of the Aurora distorts Kirjokansi's image and makes its movement difficult to follow and predict.
By reversing the field's polarity Louhi can exert either an attracting or repelling force, which depending on the opponent's strength may be enough to briefly lock another zanpakutou to hers or deflect some energy attacks or projectiles. The field can however be forcibly de-activated by overloading it with a stronger blast of electricity than what Louhi is able to control.
If any part of an opponent comes into direct contact (or indirect through a sword, armor, etc) with either the hook or blade end of Kirjokansi, Louhi can choose to release the Revontulet in a concentrated burst. The nauseating Aurora shock tears through the victim's body causing muscles to seize and spasm uncontrollably.
Once de-activated the field needs one turn before it can be charged up again (at a cost of 2% of reiatsu).
The field seems to also possess some erratic effects, such as causing some kinds of technology to malfunction in unpredictable ways; for that reason it's risky for Louhi to carry tracking devices and such. Although it doesn't affect her own body, others who touch the field for more than a few seconds may find themselves going numb at the point of contact or experiencing strange visual hallucinations.
Form: Keeping the general shape of the naginata from Louhi's Shikai, the weapon loses its ability to shrink and grow, instead becoming fixed at a massive sixteen foot scale. The pole resembles a lamp post in thickness and the blade is a monstrous five feet long, one foot wide, thick and emblazoned with eye-like designs along the centre. The hooked end becomes double-pronged and jagged, able to snap shut like the jaws of an insect.
Rather than being held, the weapon floats independently in close proximity to Louhi's body using a magnetic connection to her reiatsu, and can be swung with the same speed, force, and accuracy as if she were actually holding it.
Ability: Necrokinesis
Any manner of tissue, flesh, bone, hair, bodies and the like not imbued with the quality which defines it as living (i.e, dead stuff) present within a 100 foot radius becomes subject to Louhi's complete manipulation. This would also include any necrotic tissue still attatched to a living body. This matter can be gathered together and compressed, laced with reiatsu to a considerable strength and resilience and molded to any shape, however the ability is clearly limited by the scarcity of the necessary component. Speed and strength are tied with Louhi's zanjutsu stat.
Attack: Tartunta [Infection]
The maggots emerging from Kirjokansi are much stronger and faster moving in Bankai. Each larva is bolstered by the power of the reiatsu consumed in the attack, making them difficult to burn or crush. Hurled en masse from the edge of the blade, they can rapidly burrow into living flesh, or more easily into wounds, and especially aiming for the eyes. Anyone afflicted by these parasites will find healing kidou or abilities no longer functional, and regeneration impossible. Due to sheer numbers, the maggots cannot simply be brushed away or easily avoided.
Within each swarm are five special half inch long black maggots, the Kantaja. Hidden among their more ordinary brethren, they too will seek out any point at which they can burrow into an opponent, with specialized jaws capable of piercing through clothing or even armor. Once they become situated in the target's body, they latch into the flesh by extending thin tendrils from their exterior, reaching out into a radius of 5 inches.
Once the Kantaja is lodged in such a way, the infected flesh becomes susceptible to Louhi's Necrokinesis to a degree which depends on the opponent's reiatsu level. Victims of less than half Louhi's strength may have the section of infected flesh forcibly torn from their body, or else be dragged around by the effect, especially when multiple Kantaja are present. Opponents within 50% will struggle to resist against the pull of Necrokinesis and may be thrown off balance or temporarily pinned in place, for example. Opponents with 2x or more reiatsu than Louhi's are only affected if all five Kantaja have entered their body.
Each swarm called up costs Louhi 500 reiatsu.
Attack: Revontulien Taivaankansi [Aurora Vault]
By channeling 10% of her Reiatsu into the huge naginata pole which functions as a giant magnet, Louhi can create an Aurora Vault centralized around her weapon. The vault appears as a ceiling of Aurora Borealis over the battle area, covering about the size of a football stadium at its maximum. The space within the Aurora Vault is filled with a strange and unearthly light, the colours constantly shifting due to the forces of opposing reiatsu during combat. Ghostly shapes of various birds may be discerned drifting through the upper reaches of the vault, while a slow rain of luminescent feathers descend earthward.
As a result of this strange light, any abilities and kidou which utilize light or shadow, or claim light/shadow as an element (Step of Shadows, Shadow Puppet, Spectrum, etc) are nullified unless the user pays a cost of 4x greater than normal. Abilities which have no cost are nullified without recourse.
Very weak individuals will begin to experience visual hallucinations and nausea after prolonged exposure to the Aurora, while electronic devices and other complex technology will behave erratically due to the powerful electromagnetic field.
While the Aurora Vault remains in a 'charged' state, Louhi may summon a bolt of electricity to strike her opponent at the instant when either the jaws or the blade of her naginata make contact with a target. The nauseating Aurora shock tears through the victim's body causing muscles to seize and spasm uncontrollably.
0.5x or less of Louhi's SP = 1.5x effectiveness
SP is relatively equal = normal effectiveness
1.5x or more of Louhi's SP = 0.5x effectiveness
This attack can be used 5 times successively before it must be recharged with another payment of 10%.
In battle, two characters who have spent much time with one another and are fighting together against an adversary receive a boost to all stats (except Reiatsu and Connection). This is made even more powerful in a bond between members of the same Division, where the power of their Division Techniques/Abilities inherently increase in potency.

Division techs:
“Mark of the Hunted”
The feared technique of the 12th division is both hideous to learn and to execute. Those who seek to learn the technique are injected with a cocktail of poisons and diseases and left bedridden for several days. At such a point either their immune system is able to cope with the injection or they are forced to go to the 3rd division and undergo a series of extensive (and painful) filtrations at which point the process must begin again.
Once the user has adapted to the plague, they are able to use it against their enemies, focusing it into the palm of their hand. Upon contact with the target, the virulence will transfer, leaving a dark hand print where the contact was made. This mark sends a message to any who sees it that the person bearing it is hunted, and most citizens will treat such a person like a leper.
The mark sends out a small leak of reiatsu that serves as a signal flare to all members of the 12th, making it difficult for a marked person to hide. This mark is permanent unless a chiyudo user of 1.5x the connection of the person who laid the mark casts a mid to upper level purification spell, or if the person who used the mark relents and allows the afflicted area to heal.
In addition, there are immediate effects. 3% of the attacker’s reiatsu is dealt as damage to the target for five rounds. As the increase in heart rate speeds the poison’s spread through the bloodstream, reiatsu expenditure for shyunpo and kidou is doubled (kidou reductions are still in effect, whatever amount is used for the cast is doubled). Each flash step adds .5 rounds to the effect’s duration and each spell adds .25 rounds to the effect’s duration. Side effects include pain, nausea and blurred vision, although each person’s reaction to the plague is different.
Subsequent uses of the technique in a single fight from a single user become half as effective as the previous use. Concurrent uses from a single user do not stack.
Bounty points can be spent to augment the power of the poison. Each bounty point adds to the per-round poison damage to a maximum of 4.5% of the user’s reiatsu.
Activation costs 1% rei on a successful touch to force the virulence into the target.
Bounty Level: Max
[ Sentekiou ] – "Battle Adaptation"
A hunter is always a master of the elements that surround him, using every feature of the current situation to fulfill the objective. The longer he monitors his opponent, the more perfect a weapon he becomes for the destruction of those he has been assigned to kill.
This expresses itself in battle as a change in combat priority. If the hunter believes that more speed and less technique would be required then he will factor this into his technique. If he finds that hand-to-hand combat is necessary then he will forgo weapon specialization to focus on his Hakuda and so on.
The adaptation begins as a redistribution of 50 of Zanjutsu, Hakuda or Hohou into one of the mentioned stats per round. As the user becomes more powerful, so does his ability to adapt; his style becoming as fluid as water. Thus, for each 1000 Connection, the user is able to shift another 50 per round.
The user of this technique may spend bounty points to supplement his skill. He may spend 50 bounty points per 50 in shiftable stats (i.e. for every 1000, 50 bounty points may be spent) to add 50 points in movable stats.
Bounty level: Max
[ Reiatsu no Senpuku ] – “Reiatsu Cloaking”
The user of this technique is able to bend his reiatsu in unnatural directions enabling him through practice to bend his aura to mimic the ambient reiatsu in his immediate area, effectively dropping out of spiritual perception. With practice, the user of this technique can even distort in an area, allowing the user to blend in to his surroundings as if he weren’t there. Advanced users may even be able to hide others in their cloak or even distort light to appear as someone else.
Excessive movement, Shunpo, and release of Shikai will all break the active camouflage, but only Shikai can break the reiatsu suppression. As reiatsu is a natural part of the shinigami’s being, bending and twisting it into unnatural shapes and forcing it to emit natural properties is extremely unnatural. Doing so can be excruciatingly painful at first until the user develops “reaitsu flexibility.”

“Slipstream”
In a race, those behind the leader have the advantage of “drafting” as the leader makes a buckle in the air in front of him, thus lowering the wind resistance and making the work easier for those who stay close.
This principle has been applied to shyunpo. As the “leader” enters his own flash step, he may take his allies with him, allowing the fastest person in a hunting group to drag his slower associates into flash-step to spring a surprise attack.
The person entering the flash step pays the full price in reiatsu for the technique and those accompanying him pay half the price. The lead runner may substitute his own reiatsu to cover for his allies, if the allies are unable or unwilling to pay the price themselves.
Unwilling targets cannot be dragged into the slipstream, nor can hostile targets, projectiles or kidou.
The amount of participants in the slipstream is limited to the practitioner’s skill and experience in the field. Additional participants may be purchased with bounty points at an increasing rate to a maximum of 5.
Some Shinigami are expert in dodging attacks, avoiding injury by becoming slippery and difficult to catch. Because it often results in a sacrifice to offensive power, Louhi tends to take damage rather than dodging, in order to stay on her target and deal more damage of her own.
The result of being constantly cut, bludgeoned, blasted, and impaled is that she has learned not to fear such threats. Rather than flinching and backing away, she can prepare herself and use her 'scarred' reiatsu to take attacks head on, with lower damage than would normally occur.
For any type of attack, be it technique, kidou, kai, or otherwise, which uses a scale of damage by relative reiatsu or connection, Louhi's own rei or conn is calculated as 1.5x greater than what it actually is.
[Slot 2] - Haipiiri
Over time, along with growing more powerful, the electromagnetic properties of Louhi's reiatsu have become more refined and manifested into more specialized effects, some of which can be utilized purposefully.
As though equipped with her own internal compass, this allows her to orient herself within any space. Partially as a result, Louhi is an expert in finding shortcuts or hidden routes, and rarely gets lost.
The electromagnetic effect can also be used by Louhi (whether on purpose or inadvertently) to interfere with or destroy electronics and gadgets of various kinds either by touching them or simply being in a close proximity. A payment of 200 reiatsu allows her to render a machine inoperable (in the case of personal items belonging to a PC, only for the duration of the collab).
Louhi also gains the ability to sense the natural weak electrical fields surrounding people and objects, much like a shark. This doesn't function as a second sight by any means, but more of a system to track the location of something she's already identified, or to alert her to the movement of anything close by whether she can see it or not.
Range (no cloak) - 30 yards
Range (cloaked) - 6 feet
Because these effects utilize the properties of Louhi's reiatsu rather than the reiatsu itself, it is undetectable by means of normal spiritual senses and will not interfere with cloaking and concealment, except when being used as an attack.
Kukinta
To use the electric properties offensively, Louhi must discharge a total 2% of her reiatsu and will disrupt any cloak that is in place (both her own or one belonging to another). The result is a kind of stunner wave which radiates 30 feet around her, getting weaker as the distance increases. Any person below 1/20th of Louhi's reiatsu level will be knocked out for several minutes, others will be jolted for a few seconds as the wave passes them.
[Slot 3] - Sydämen syöjä (Eater of Heart)
A result of a massive overdose of the extract used for acquiring the 12th Division technique Mark of the Hunted. The living plague is no longer merely a resident but has become an essential part of Louhi's physiology, permeating every aspect of her body. At the core of the transformation, her own heart has been consumed and replaced.
In addition to its original use, the pestilence now acts as a hyperactive and voracious immune system, attacking and devouring any foreign reiatsu or physical substance. Even her blood, saliva, etc are corrosive and toxic on their own. Louhi's own clothing, weapons, and other possessions are immune, being close enough to her to avoid the effect.
For status effects, poisons, and so forth that have a cost in reiatsu, the pestilence consumes an equal amount of Louhi's reiatsu along with them. The maximum that can be consumed per round is 1,000 reiatsu, meaning stronger effects will take several rounds to be eradicated, but the effect can still diminish relative to how much of it has been eaten. Effects with no cost are consumed in the same way, but without any cost to Louhi. Against zanpakutou abilities, the max is reduced to 500.
Physical objects such as weapons are consumed more slowly, becoming corroded and porous over time after contacting with Louhi if they are not cleaned and disinfected. The impact on flesh is much more immediate, causing an infectious rot that can consume the weak (less than 1% of Louhi's rei) in a matter of minutes. On others, the rot spreads slowly relative to the victim's reiatsu, causing lesions and sickness if left untreated for more than a few days, and eventually can devour the heart. These effects are involuntary and occur after 5-10 seconds of contact with Louhi's bare skin, or are transmitted by her blood, spit, etc. Unlike with Mark of the Hunted, ordinary medical treatment is sufficient.
Because the pestilence doesn't distinguish between beneficial and negative intruders, chiyudou, reiki and the like also become less effective. However, positive effects do not consume any of Louhi's reiatsu. Only upon reaching the level of Fate of Triangles with Louhi can one be ignored by Sydämen syöjä .
[Slot 4] - Skill Focus (zanjutsu)
Items
Lima Luu (slime bone) - a.k.a 'Shiroi JR'
Created by the 8th division as a special request, Lima Luu is an item totally unique in Soul Society. Most of the details of its creation are classified, possible due to several accidents which occurred during the process. It was apparently produced using a portion of Gabriel Faust's genetic material, hence the nickname 'Shiroi Junior'.
Because Louhi's bankai requires very rare and unusual circumstances in order to be effective, Lima Luu is required for her to use her Kai's ability wherever she might meet a dangerous foe.
Sealed within its jar, Lima Luu resembles an embryo of some type, dormant except for the occasional bit of movement. Its single, rounded eye blinks from time to time, giving it an eerie appearance of consciousness.
When she wishes to use the item, Louhi must expend 5% of her reiatsu into Lima Luu to unseal the jar. The mysterious thing rapidly expands over the course of two turns into a massive golem of jumbled, putrefying flesh draped loosely over and spilling out of a pile of oversized bones. For every 4,000 points of Reiatsu Louhi possesses (every 200 points of the 5% she expends), Lima Luu's initial mass is expanded by one ton (about the size of a horse). The absolute maximum size it can reach is 30 tons.
As an example, at the end of Louhi's next turn after opening the jar, with her current reiatsu in bankai of 32k, Lima Luu reaches a size of 8 tons. By the 10th turn it will begin to shrink by 20% per turn, returning to the jar by the 15th unless it is replenished with more of Louhi's reiatsu.
Subsequent injections of 5% of Louhi's reiatsu during a fight will keep Lima Luu in play, but each time she does so the results are halved.
To re-seal Lima Luu, any part of the flesh can be scooped back into the jar and closed, where it re-forms into an embryo. The remaining matter outside of the jar will quickly disintegrate. Lima Luu can only be released from the jar once per fight.
Because it is an amorphous blob of decayed flesh, most types of attack (cutting, punching, etc) are mostly ineffective, within reason. Fire and other heat based energy attacks of a sufficient level will char away portions of the soft tissue, giving off an extremely foul and repulsive odor, but leaving the bones untouched. On its own, Lima Luu cannot move or act in anyway, requiring Louhi's bankai to put it into action.
[Item Name]
"Monstrum Cognatum" (Monsters by Blood)
[Item Physical description]
A "pseudo-fang" derived from the genuine articles of Seikan, the Monstrum Cognatum is an unrefined and highly primitive dagger...it bears no hilt or handguard, and resembles a crooked tooth more than anything else. Its steel (which feels very much like enamel) is of an indigo hue, taking the color of its mother blades, and cannot really be used for cutting...it solely pierces in the way a regular canine tooth does: by being driven viciously, point in, straight through the flesh of that which it wishes to tear. The impractical and fairly barbaric weapon comes with a dark blue holster, such that the dagger can be retrieved from the waist and wielded at any given opportunity.
[Item Abilities]
The Monstrum Cognatum, in addition to being a fallacious imitation of Seikan's teeth, also bears a false stomach within it, and consequently, contains traces of Fuhen Taishokukan's black hole. Essentially, when Monstrum Cognatum perforates dead flesh (its cheap copy of the real deal doesn't allow it the ability to suck in living tissue, which hold a substantially greater reiatsu even in weaker creatures than pure dead matter), it sucks in the matter equivalent to about that which composes a single person within its internal black hole. Because of the weak version of physics that is used to actually construct the singularity, the dead flesh does not become spaghettified into nothingness, but rather, is regurgitated as living matter (space-time warpage brings the flesh back out prior to its actual death) that will replace recent dead tissue on Monstrum Cognatum's wielder. In this way does Monstrum Cognatum heal the last wound received prior to its use. This is within reasonable bounds...i.e., if the wielder suffers a grievous wound and then a paper cut a moment before using Monstrum Cognatum, the effect will not be wasted on simply the paper cut...the substantial wound gets the priority.
Restrictions include: 1) Monstrum Cognatum's weak black hole is not capable of sustaining its existence if used any more than a single time over a period of 24 hours. 2) Monstrum Cognatum cannot be driven into dead flesh that is still attached to a living organism, i.e., the wielder cannot pry Monstrum Cognatum into the wound of an enemy and then use the connected matter for the ability...it must come from a wholly dead collection of tissue. Otherwise, the reiatsu from the living material connected will snuff out Monstrum Cognatum's effects. 3) While using Monstrum Cognatum does not require the use of any reiatsu, it is still a pseudo-zanpakutou construct, and has a limited reservoir of energy within it that does not grow at the rate of real zanpakutou. This means that not only could Monstrum Cognatum work only upon dead tissue not attached to any living material, but it could only work on that dead matter that has either been dead for a long time (which is very useless, given that dead material deteriorates as time passes), or belonged to a very weak being (not very common in high level fights occurring outside the realm of massive casualties). Thus, to compensate, Monstrum Cognatum was calibrated specifically to the dead matter that is found in one other place in the universe: the terrifying "Lima Luu", property of Captain of the 12th Division, Louhi Kaiho.
[Acquisition of item]
Monstrum Cognatum is an item constructed by Captain of the 9th Division and Research Head, Saika Rakushun, at the request of Captain of the 11th Division, Leon Valiente Simeon, as a "Bankai present". The latter Captain approached Raku following a meeting with Louhi in which he discovered that his friend had elevated her power to that appropriate of a Bankai user, and subsequently wished to give her something to accentuate her abilities. Because Raku had already experienced Herääminen Kirjokansi firsthand, the analytical genius was able to generate a pseudo-fang from Leon's zanpakutou and attune it specifically to matter that composes Lima Luu, the undead behemoth that is crucial to Louhi's Necrokinesis ability. Recognizing Louhi to be a fellow tank-type fighter, Leon requested that the ability be used to aide her rather masochistic fighting style, and Raku's brilliant intellect was only too happy to oblige.
Fool's Errand - Captain's Meeting where Louhi is promoted to Acting Captain of the 12th and paired with Asakura Sumiteru of the 7th to hunt down escaped criminals
Hand of Flame- After receiving orders from Louhi, unseated member of the 12th, Shokkou Tsurugi, engages the enemy
Under Orders- The rest of the 12th Division react to a message from their new Acting Captain
As one of the Four Noble Houses, the LaSalles enjoy one of the longest and most prestigious histories in Soul Society gaining them both prestige and enemies in large amounts.
The family has been around as long as history can record, and ancient records claim that Sebastian I was among the people who first helped lay down the foundation for the government that evolved into the Central 46. Other notables in the family include Peter the Mason, who helped design many of the older buildings in Seireitei and Nicholas III who helped to codify the districts into numbers, a system that has made setting up infrastructure in Rukongai easier to this day.
As the elitist of the elite, House LaSalle seems to have their hands in every financial, political and social pot in the upper houses. They are by far the richest of the nobility and have a controlling share in a vast amount of Rukongai corporations. While being so political tends to make their popularity vary vastly depending on the support given to the current rulers, it is always assumed that a LaSalle has a hand in everything that is going on in the Central 46.
Recently, this has worked out badly due to the consequences of the Mask War. Accusations that the LaSalles funded the SQN invasion in order to make a bid for the throne, while unproved, don’t help matters.
It may be said that the LaSalles are the most likely to lose their status as one of the Four Noble Houses, but it also may be said that they are the most likely to ascend to the throne in the unlikely even that the King resigns, dies or is deposed. With such conflicting opinions regarding the house, it is difficult to pinpoint what the popular sentiment is regarding the LaSalles, as views about the house are as varied as they are strong.
After the disaster that was the Mask War, the former head of the house Sebastian VIII stepped down in favor of his eldest children, the twins Augustus and Maria LaSalle. Despite the twins’ rather unhealthy attachment to each other, their charisma and vitality have won many hearts over to the house and have helped to undo the damage to their reputation. Both are fine fencers and served together in the Onmitsu Kidou before taking on the affairs of the house full time.
Tsukito
Minatsuki Pina - a nervous and harried shinigami who worries perpetually about the state of things at the 12th, yet never seems to make much progress. Currently the 10th seat, despite her lack of a Shikai. She has been in the 12th for about 250 years as far as anyone knows, but maybe even longer. She's around 5'3" with blonde hair that she wears in various styles, but strands of it are always coming loose. Pina has taken a position as a personal assistant to Louhi, making sure she gets things done.

Zanpakutou- Hitonomi
An average katana with black hilt wrapping and a dark sheath. On close inspection, etchings of hunting scenes are visible on the surface. The guard's shape is reminiscent of the fletching on an arrow. Hitonomi appears in Minatsuki's inner world as a deer with a woman's face, constantly pursued through a moonlit parkland by a pack of baying dogs.
Shikai - Run, Hitonomi
Minatsuki's Katana sheds its black coloring, becoming all white with gold accents.
First Ability: Hitonomi grants her owner with an extra reiatsu vision overlayed on top of her normal sight. This allows her to see the movement and presence of reiatsu rather than simply feel it, even small amounts that would normally be invisible.
Second Ability: Hitonomi can create thin tripwires of reiatsu which Minatsuki can only see with her enhanced sight. Whenever another being crosses through the tripwire, Minatsuki is alerted and the being's next intention is broadcasted to her mind by Hitonomi's voice.
Arimaki Jan - A short, spiky-haired shinigami from the 12th, registered under 'special bounty status'. He has a genial personality but somewhat fearful reputation due to the sheer number of his completed missions. Very few people know that the actual nature of those missions was mostly tracking down the runaway offspring of nobles playing hooky from school. He occasionally tracks down debtors as well. He is a frequent companion of Pina.

Sarudoshi Kaisoku - a messenger with the onmitsu kidou and an unwilling member of a certain 'club'.
Sinisalo Maki - half-sister of Louhi
Nui
A woman from the past of the 9th division captain, Saika Rakushun.
Physical stature - Itokuri stands just barely four feet tall, with stick-thin limbs and a mane of unkempt rust-colored hair. She hides her elfish face under the shadow of a slate blue hood at most times, while her feet are constantly unshod and scuffed.
Her hobby is the construction of chimeras.
Biography - Once the cherished daughter of a noble family in Seireitei, Itokuri was groomed from birth to enter the Gotei 13. During the chaos of the mask war, she became hollowfied by unknown circumstances. When her training to enter the academy progressed, the impurity quickly became apparent to her tutors, and threatened to cause great embarrassment to a family which had rallied under the anti-vizard banner of house Faust.
The family quickly contracted a vassal to take the girl to earth and dispose of her. Unable to complete the horrible task, the vassal abandoned Itokuri on the streets of Tokyo and took his own life in shame. Heartbroken and alone, Itokuri wandered aimlessly and grew increasingly feral. Her hollow had nearly taken over for good before she was discovered and rescued by an agent from the Army of Masks. She has very little memory of her life prior to being rescued, and refuses to say what her previous name was.
Zanpakutou - Kinubari
In its sealed form, Kinubari appears as a slender tanto, matching the small size of its owner. The sheath and hilt wrapping are blue with white lace patterns and the guard is heart-shaped. Itokuri wears the weapon on a cord hanging from her neck so that it dangles near her stomach.
Shikai - kurukuru, Kinubari
When released, the sheath of Kinubari begins to spin rapidly, growing and transforming into a long spool of silken threads. A dozen tail ends of thread hang down, tipped with silvery needles, the largest of which bears a wicked scalpel edge and takes shape from Kinubari's blade.
First Ability: Kinubari's thread causes cells to flourish and regenerate rapidly, allowing sutures to bind flesh to flesh and heal wounds swiftly. If she chooses, any flesh can be made to grow together, regardless of origin. The cost of the growth comes from the one the thread is being used on, so the repairing of large wounds can be draining. Itokuri can control one needle at a time remotely if she wishes; the speed and control of her stitches are based on her zanjutsu stat.
Second Ability: Using her thread, Itokuri can affix herself to another person, allowing her flesh to grow together with the target at a point of contact. Once she is bonded, she is able to transfer 10% of her reiatsu per round between herself and the partner, which can be distributed to the partner's stats. She can also do the reverse, draining and adding to her own stats. By remaining latched on for ten rounds, she can deliver the entirety of her strength into the fusion. The buff is permanent until she either retrieves her reiatsu or seals her kai. After sealing, the buff lingers for 4 rounds.
Vizard Attack: Itokuri's rage is added to the reiatsu being transferred, adding an extra 5% per round. Each round she uses this gains her 5% emptiness. The rage buff wears off in two rounds after Itokuri separates from her target.
Mask
When Itokuri dons her mask, she is able to apply her rage directly into Reiki to heal wounds and restore the reiatsu of her patients.
Chimeras built by Itokuri using her shikai, if they are constructed from creatures less than a fourth of her own strength, are charmed by her for a time and will follow her. Those that are clever enough might even follow commands. When the charm wears off (A few hours, unless the monster was too strong to begin with), they probably won't be too pleased about what Itokuri has done to them and they may attack her.
Charming a dumb creature (one with the head of a hollow or an animal) costs Itokuri 5% of the reiatsu it has upon creation. Charming a creature with its own mind (one that includes the head of a human, vizard, or shinigami) costs 25% of its reiatsu.
[ Mind Meld ]
A Loki officer makes a bond, usually through processing a portion of the subject’s soul matter (skin, blood, hair, etc). This bond acts as a means of transmission between the Vizard and the target. Only those Vizards who have this technique equipped can ‘transmit’, but any soul that has been bound to a Vizard equipped with this technique can ‘receive‘. When used for simple communication, thoughts are usually transmitted only as audio, though by focusing on a specific image that image can be transmitted to the other party. Communication alone occurs at no cost to the user. When used for malicious effect, the user attempts to overload a target’s mind by transmitting both visual and audio signals, usually with a great variations in sound and sight for further disorientation. When used offensively, this technique consumes 5% Rage per turn and generates 2% Emptiness for every round it is used. Due to the defensive capability granted by possessing Reiatsu, the following scale of effectiveness pertains to this technique’s offensive uses:
Quote:
50% of the target’s Reiatsu: 10% Effectiveness
75% of the target’s Reiatsu: 30% Effectiveness
100% of the target’s Reiatsu: 50% Effectiveness
125% of the target’s Reiatsu: 70% Effectiveness
150% of the target’s Reiatsu: 90% Effectiveness
This scale measures how much of the target’s sight and hearing is obscured by the mental transmissions.
[ Dusk Flesh ]
By associating a Vizard’s inner Hollow with their personal shadow, that shadow becomes capable of flowing up and over the user’s body and weapons. While this shadow is covering the user’s body, it can act to conceal in up to four different ways. This Technique can conceal the user from Visual, Thermal, Sound, and Reiatsu detection methods. A Loki Officer can cloak any two of these at no cost, but concealing a a third and fourth spectrum cost 1% Reiatsu or 2% Rage each every round. Releasing one's Zanpakutou to any stage breaks this cloak.
[ Primed Perception ]
By spending 200 Reiatsu drawing on their inner Hollow’s own senses, a Loki officer can selectively augment one of their six senses: Sight, Hearing, Touch, Smell, Taste, and Reiatsu Detection by a factor of ten, allowing them to hear the heartbeats of living beings, or feel vibrations in the air and understand the words that created them. However, these augmented senses all come with drawbacks, as a normally unpleasant sound can become deafening, and the lighting of a normal room can blind. Only one sense can be modified at a time.
[ Shadow Vault ]
By associating a Vizard’s inner World with their personal shadow, that shadow becomes a portal to a space in their inner world. This space can be used to store objects only, and can contain a Vizard’s Zanpakutou and all of his or her items. Due to the additional space provided by this chamber, a Loki officer gains two unique item slots, and four division item slots. To ease the retrieval of items from the storage area, a Vizard trains their shadow, which is now an extension of their soul, to move about at the Vizard’s command, though for it to move or for items to be retrieved from the vault, the user’s body must be physically touching the shadow itself.
